COACH USA CEO TESTIFIES ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING BEFORE NEW JERSEY ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE

Paramus, NJ – Derrick Waters, CEO and President of Coach USA and Coach Canada testified before the New Jersey Assembly Judiciary Committee today on what Coach USA / Coach Canada is doing to combat human trafficking.

Coach USA and Coach Canada are partnered with Busing on the Look Out and uses its training programs and modules to train its employees at the beginning of their employment and on a yearly basis. This training has proven very successful in that a Coach USA driver was able to thwart a human trafficking event from occurring. Something for which Coach USA was recognized nationally.

Said Derrick Waters, “I want to make sure that all our employees have the necessary tools to combat human trafficking which unfortunately too often occurs on buses throughout the nation. It is why I wholeheartedly support the pending legislation to mandate that all bus companies provide training to their employees on what to look for in human trafficking situations.”

Derrick Waters was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation to the Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking. The focus, as is in the state of New Jersey, is to best equip individuals with proper information and with ways to contact authorities when a suspected human trafficking event is happening.

“The sad reality is that human trafficking is happening on the New Jersey Turnpike and on every roadway throughout the nation, it’s incumbent upon us in the bus industry to do everything we can to combatting and ending it. The World Cup undoubtedly while a very positive event for New Jersey, will also bring with it the element of human trafficking. The legislature’s attention to this is critical to thwarting human trafficking from happening during that time.”, said Derrick Waters.
