Chicago Fact: The Loop is so named because Chicago's elevated train tracks (locals call it The El) surround the area.
September 28, 2009 - Rob Pierson and John Curran, President and Vice President of Chicago Trolley and Double Decker Co., will travel this week to Copenhagen with the 2016 Olympic Games Delegation to make their final push for Chicago to host the Olympic Games. They will join a prominent delegation including the President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Mayor Daley and others. They see this as a chance to have a ringside seat at a historic moment for the city.
Chicago Trolley and Double Decker Co. has been a proud supporter of the Chicago bid from the beginning. Vehicles have been used to advertise and provide media transportation when the IOC did its evaluation trip.
"We've been engaged and involved, because we know the impact of what this could mean for tourism, taking Chicago from a second-tier international city to a first-tier international city," John Curran said, "The potential impact on our business could be dramatic."
Curran sees this impacting Chicago tourism for a decade should Chicago win.
John Curran will be blogging about his trip.
